Home Means Nevada to Brian Hibbetts
Brian Hibbetts was born and raised in Las Vegas. He grew up in a working-class family. From a young age, Brian learned the value of hard work and serving your neighbor from his mother and father. At the age of 15, Brian started volunteering with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Explorer program where he developed a passion for helping others.
Public Safety
Public safety is essential to a prosperous economy and critical to maintaining a high quality of life. Having risen through the ranks from an LVMPD Explorer to Police Sergeant, I understand that crime is a major contributor to poverty, inequality, and the erosion of human rights. As your representative, I support proposals that give the men and women who protect our fellow Nevadans the tools and resources they need to keep themselves and our communities safe. I also support policies that strengthen laws against violent criminals and those who target children and vulnerable populations. Creating a safe and thriving environment requires local, state, and federal authorities to work together to enforce and uphold our laws.
Education
Every child deserves access to the best possible education system, one that lays a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Our current education system ranks near the bottom on many metrics and fails to adequately prepare students for the real world. The Clark County School District has grown too large, leaving the system overwhelmed and unable to adapt to the changes needed to effectively educate our students. I support reforms that allow local municipalities to opt out of the countywide school district so they can provide more responsive, localized education environments. I also support expanding school choice options for families and students trapped in failing schools. A child’s zip code should not determine their access to a quality education.
Economic Prosperity
Nevada’s economy depends on policies that encourage job growth, higher wages, and innovation. Too many families and businesses continue to feel the effects of economic uncertainty, and government should focus on creating an environment where opportunity can thrive. I believe we can strengthen our economy without unnecessary mandates, higher taxes, or excessive regulation. As your representative, I am a careful steward of your hard-earned tax dollars and fight against wasteful and excessive government spending.
Constitutional Rights
Born and raised in Las Vegas, I dedicate my career to protecting our communities through my service with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. I believe every individual is entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Government must respect constitutional limits and remain accountable to the people it serves. I support reforms that place decision-making authority with the people’s house and preserve the balance of power. As your representative, I always stand firm in defense of individual liberties and ensure they are never infringed.
